Victor Lafay: "It's been an incredible trip"

“This stage was hard! With nine riders in the breakaway, it’s been fast all day. We had Thomas Champion in the leading group, so we were fine. My earpiece broke down during the race, so I wasn’t sure if there were still escapees or not. I just knew I had to go flat out in the last uphill. I rode away with two other riders before the first climb in the last lap but when they saw me, they didn’t want to cooperate. We have waited for the bunch. I was positioned a bit far behind at the bottom so when Eiking rode away I reacted with a slight delay, however the goal of keeping the third place overall is reached. I don’t think it was possible to win. I have no regret. In any case, it was worth coming here. I wanted to come to Norway for a long time. It’s great to do it for a bike race. It’s an incredible trip, especially because we haven’t travelled that much since the beginning of the outbreak. It’s a big pleasure to see another place, particularly those beautiful landscapes up here. It’s been very friendly in the team and in the race so the Arctic Race of Norway will increase my motivation for the coming races.”
