Johan Ravnoy (Coop-Repsol): “Today’s break has brought some memories from last year to mind”

I was in the breakaway already in the second stage of last year’s race. It was a very pleasant experience, and today’s break has brought some memories to mind. Last year, par example, times were a bit difficult for my team because of budget issues. Now we are on a safer position, and it’s good to get this Most Active Rider award again.

My intention was to get as many points as possible in the Sprints and the KOM classifications. I did indeed claim a lot of points, even though the Groupama-FDJ pulled a very strong ride and had a pretty sharp kick. I hope to score more points in the next few days. I also wanted to go deep into the final and was surprised we were only caught with one lap to go. Afterwards, it was difficult for me to follow the peloton all the way to the finish. I’m really satisfied with my performance. I hope to back it up this week with another break and some strong riding.
