Queen Sonja of Norway becomes Royal Patron of the Arctic Race of Norway 2014

- Her Majesty the Queen's Royal Patronage represents an important recognition of the Arctic Race of Norway and its values, Dybdal adds in a commentary.

Fantastic Norwegian scenery
Both Dybdal and the rest of the organisation behind the race express their pride and joy after the announcement of the Royal House of Norway was made.
- We know that Norwegian scenery and North-Norwegian have a special place in the Queen's heart and we are greatly honoured by Her Majesty's wish to be the Royal Patron of the Arctic Race of Norway 2014. One of the event's objectives is precisely to show to the world our spectacular Norwegian nature.

During last year's event, more than 150 000 spectators followed the race, from Bodø, through Lofoten and Vesterålen and with a great finish in Harstad. Moreover, the race was broadcasted to more than 110 countries. In this context, the organisers welcome heartily the Queen's contribution in creating more positive attention to the event and to Norway. – We are proud and very grateful for Her Majesty the Queen's decision, Dybdal states.

A gathering event
This year's edition, with a historic finish on the North Cape, is a true child of Northern Norway. The synergy created by the Arctic Race of Norway is however national and the race transcends both political and geographical boundaries.
- Our ambition for the Arctic Race is that it becomes an event for the whole country, a beacon event that creates values in more than one sense. The Queen's Royal Patronage is therefore of great inspiration for us, Dybdal affirms in conclusion.
