Jean-Marc Bideau: "A great idea from the Norwegian salmon farmers"

August 14 th 2015 - 20:29

My attack today was planned. Yesterday, it was Maxime [Cam] at the front. I felt pretty good in the climbs at the beginning. I suspected it would take some time for the breakaway to go. We rode away after 45km. We cooperated very well. In the first two King of the Mountain prices, I purposely looked like being dead and let I let the Astana rider [Maxat Ayazbayev] go for the points. I saved all my energy for the 500kg salmon. I went solo and it worked out well. It's enormous to win such a price. The value is twice the Souvenir Henri Desgrange [awarded as a 5000 euros prime to the rider who crest the highest summit of the Tour de France in first position]. Half a ton of salmon, it has never been seen before at a bike race! It's exceptional. It's a great idea from the Norwegian salmon farmers. I personally love salmon. I eat it every time I get a chance but that'll be too much for myself. I'll make some people happy with it. I'll share it with my team-mates, my relatives and my friends, all the people who supported me when I was down in Spring because of glandular fever. I've had three months off. I come back from a very difficult time.
