The end of the beginning
July 8 th 2015 - 10:14
I think I have my words intact when I add that this has been a wonderful journey so far. With only two editions (in 2013 and 2014), the Arctic Race of Norway has been upgraded to UCI category HC (Hors Classe). The upgrade represents on the one hand an important recognition by the cycling world of our race, and on the other, it makes the race even more attractive for professional cyclists, stakeholders and spectators.
In 2015 we will probably see the strongest peloton ever for a professional stage race in Norway and we truly look forward to giving a warm welcome to all. This year’s route is compact, but offers a variation of North-Norwegian landscapes that we believe will create enthusiasm among both TV-viewers and spectators along the route.
Arctic Race of Norway has become the total event and the popular festival that we dreamt of. I am truly pleased to see what this race means for people in the north, who have been longing for an occasion to showcase their region. The race also represents something very positive for people living in other parts of Norway and for foreign visitors beginning to discover the many treasures of the north.
It is no secret that the year of 2015 also will be decisive for the future of the Arctic Race of Norway. The continuation of this great race demands that we all continue to work together. Transcending the boundaries of geography, politics and society, the Arctic Race of Norway has already proved beneficial to not only Northern Norway, but to the country as a whole.
This is only the end of the beginning. Welcome to the Arctic Race of Norway 2015!
