Vegard Stake Laengen: "I love salmon, so I'm happy today"

It was a long day. My attack was planned, in order to take some bonus seconds, which I did, so that was good. Then at the end, I still had good legs so I wanted to try something more. But it was difficult because the peloton had everything under control. It was a nice try. I like breakaways so I'm quite happy with my race today. Being the King of the Mountain today, I have won quite a lot of fish [worth 10,000 NOK]. I eat a lot of salmon through the year anyway! Norway is famous for the salmon so it's great that the Arctic Race gives the farmers the opportunity to show the salmon to the world and to promote cycling.
