Her Majesty the Queen of Norway to be royal Patron of the 2016 Arctic Race of Norway

February 8 th 2016 - 14:34

In its fourth edition, the Arctic Race of Norway 2016 receives once more the honour of being under the royal patronage of Her Majesty the Queen Sonja of Norway. Managing Director of the ARN, Knut-Eirik Dybdal, expresses his gratitude on behalf of the organisers.

– The Arctic Race has developed into Northern Norway’s largest sports event, and the level of participation – with better and better teams and riders – has widely exceeded our expectations. The fact that the Arctic Race of Norway has reached
this stature is much due to North-Norwegian enthusiasm and scenery, and these are elements that we believe Her Majesty the Queen also treasures. We are both happy and proud to learn that Queen Sonja wishes to prolong her patronage of our race, Knut-Eirik Dybdal affirms.

This year’s race will take place from Thursday August 11th to Sunday August 14th. There are four stages with a total length of 727 km. Among the many places visited by the peloton, we find Fauske, Rognan, Mo i Rana, Sandnessjøen, Nesna and Bodø.

– The whole route this year is located in Nordland County, with landmarks such as the Helgeland archipelago, the Arctic Circle Centre, the Seven Sisters mountain range and Korgfjellet summit. We find ourselves in one of the most spectacular areas of Norway, an area which Her Majesty the Queen knows well from her many travels. We look forward to showcasing Northern Norway to both people in Norway and to international spectators and viewers, ARN director Knut-Eirik Dybdal concludes.
