“On the first day, it was just an enjoyment to make a breakaway. On stage 2, it didn't have the legs for it. On stage 3, I was desperate to go away from the bunch. Today, I just attacked from the start and they let us go. But at some stage, I told Dimitri Claeys: ‘I'm holding you off, I can give you a hand but you'd better continue without me'. I'm just super happy to be the King of the Mountains. I never won that title in my career before and I'm 36. Moreover, to win half a ton of salmon is impressive. I can eat a lot but I think we'll have a big salmon party at the team training camp in Cape Town in November. I'm thankful to Norway for putting such a nice reward I've just loved this race and its organization. I'd come back for sure!”
