Dylan Teuns: "Attack is the best defense"
August 13 th 2017 - 18:57
“It's like they sometimes say in soccer: attack is the best defense. That's what I had to do. Had I waited for the sprint, there was the risk that the Norwegian guy [August Jensen] would beat me in the sprint, finish third and takes GC away from me through the time bonuses. I was playing a little bit on the last climb like I did all day. I was waiting for my time to come. The guys at the front didn't have a big advantage. When I saw them just in front of me, the climb was almost over, it was time for me to go. I went at the right moment. As I looked behind, I saw a small gap and I knew they wouldn't catch me in the descent. Then I was sure at 1km to go, when I didn't see anybody behind me, that I was going to win. However, I kept going full gas till the end to keep the jersey safe.”
