Alexander Kristoff: "I wish I had won those two stages"

August 6 th 2021 - 19:22 [GMT + 2]

“Two days in a row in the second place… I wish I had managed to win both but that’s life. Today it was even closer than yesterday. Tomorrow I don’t think I’m gonna win but maybe on Sunday I’ll have one last opportunity. It’ll be a hard stage also but I’ll try. Today I lost by very few centimetres. He [Martin Laas] came from quite far back. Because of the slightly head wind, it was maybe a smart choice but he also took the risk to be boxed in as he was a bit too far at the back. My Norwegian team brought me very well in the last 500 metres so I cannot complain about the support I got. It was very good. The three young guys from Lillehammer impressed me these last two days. I’m glad I have the chance to do this beautiful race with the national team. At the end it was just my legs not holding off. I was pretty disappointed actually but at least I’m getting closer.”
