Hugo Houle: “Had the break stayed together, I’d probably have won the GC”

August 14 th 2022 - 20:21 [GMT + 2]

I’m really happy with the way I rode, especially today. It was pretty much tied up on the GC, with the bonus seconds being key. I saw an opportunity to attack on the second climb and I decided to go up the road. There were three Alpecin-Deceuninck guys, they started to pull and I decided to give it a shot along with them. The rest of the favorites couldn’t catch up with us and, had the break stayed together, I’d probably have won the GC. Yet Alpecin-Deceuninck decided to attack, and anyway I am happy with how we rode. We raced aggressively as a team, everyone was good, I’ve finished second and I’m happy.
